Ontario has committed to connecting every resident to a family doctor or primary care team, expanding funding for new teams as more than two million people are estimated to lack a regular provider. Supporters say universal primary care improves health and reduces emergency visits. Opponents question whether targets and funding are realistic given physician shortages.
